Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security Virtual Internship
In this 12-week virtual internship, students will explore the security challenges and best practices for protecting critical infrastructure and industrial control systems (ICS). They will gain hands-on experience in assessing ICS vulnerabilities, implementing security controls, and developing incident response plans. By the end of the internship, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue careers in ICS security, industrial cybersecurity, or critical infrastructure protection.
Track Overview
Tasks & Milestones
ICS Security Fundamentals
IntermediateIn this task, students will learn about the key components of ICS, their functions, and the security risks associated with each component.
ICS Threat Landscape
IntermediateIn this task, students will research and analyze the current threat landscape for industrial control systems, including common attack vectors and real-world case studies.
ICS Network Reconnaissance
IntermediateIn this task, students will perform network reconnaissance on a simulated ICS environment to identify and map the various components and their interconnections.
ICS Vulnerability Scanning
IntermediateIn this task, students will use vulnerability scanning tools to identify security weaknesses in the simulated ICS environment.
ICS Security Hardening
IntermediateIn this task, students will learn how to harden the security of industrial control system components, such as PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
ICS Incident Response and Disaster Recovery
IntermediateIn this task, students will develop an incident response and disaster recovery plan for the simulated ICS environment.
ICS Penetration Testing
IntermediateIn this task, students will perform a comprehensive penetration test on the simulated ICS environment to identify and exploit vulnerabilities.
ICS Security Assessment Report
IntermediateIn this task, students will consolidate the findings from the various security assessments and prepare a comprehensive report for stakeholders.
